Natalie McLaurin - New Art!

Natalie's in New Orleans, in her second year toward a BFA.
She's been busy curating and showing and has been married now
for over a year. There is a video link below that you must see to He Needs Me. It is just the best in so many very Gnatty ways....
and generally speaking, Natalie notes:

  • Definitely having fun, this is an exciting city to be young, an artist and under employed. I think I am going to be hired to do an after school program at a pre-k and elementary school. Been doing a lot of kids art classes this summer. Its kinda cramping my underemployed style but I enjoy it.

Natalie has been very busy, here are a few of her current works:

Configured & Reconfigured: Transformations of the Human Body
Acadiana Center for the Arts, Lafayette, LA
    August 11, 2012 - October 13, 2012

From the Acadiana Center for the Arts:

Configured: Transformations of the Human Body
    August 11, 2012 - October 13, 2012

Configured and Reconfigured: Transformations of the Human Body, is an exhibition that explores the physical and psychological aspect of the human physique as it is transmuted through artistic exploration. In the exhibition, artistic manipulations include fragmentation, abstraction, and reconstitution resulting in a variety of psychologically charged work.

ARTISTS: Marcello Boccacci, Leslie Dill, George Dureau, Stephen Hoskins, Harriet Kline, Donald Leblanc, Marino Marini, Eugene J. Martin, Ben Fox-McCord, Natalie McLaurin, Chicory Miles, Lisa Osborn, Michael Pajon, Gina Phillips, Chyrl Savoy, Filadelfo Simi, Robert Stickloon, Rufino Tamayo, Marcello Tommasi & Johnathan J. The Carroll Gallery has new work that I havent had a chance to document. I have a small room with 2 projections, one onto astro turf that is pretty funny and a sculpture that is much like my older work.http://www.tulane.edu/carrollgallery/exhibitions.htm

Kimberly Lewis Home - 2nd collection!

Kimberly Lewis, Pratt ID alum. is gearing up to launch her 2nd collection of boutique wallpaper, pillows and fabric by the yard - She's entered the indiegogo campaign - Give her a hand! She's down to  about the last day and can use your support. Spread the word, lend a hand!

Kimberly Lewis Home is a Brooklyn based design studio that specializes inplayful patterned home furnishings. Feel free to check out our website with our current products at KimberlyLewisHome.com you can find us onFacebookTwitter, and Pinterest as well!
I originally launched Kimberly Lewis Home in May of 2011 at The International Contemporary Furniture Fair. I debuted a collection of boutique wallpaper, 4 patterns in 2 colorways each. We have been slowly growing over the last year with new products such as pillows, trays, and notecards. I have been working on our newest collection and I am dying to share it with the world!
Where will the Funds Will Go?
If I reach my goal of $3,000 the money will be used to bring the new collection from my computer screen into actual products! I have 5 new patterns that I will  make into wallpaper. If I exceed my goal I will also be making fabric as well. I will also be printing the patterns from the first collection on a beautiful linen which will be a new addition. I would also like to add to the pillow collection and introduce the new patterns in pillow form as well.
Since the beginning I have been working with local manufacturers and I plan on continuing that with the second collection. Everything is printed not far from NYC and all of the pillows are sewn right here in the Garment District. Even the pillow fillers are made here in the US. Launching a new collection isn't cheap and this is where you come in!
What do the new patterns look like?
I have 6 new patterns that I can not wait to show you! (I may introduce more if I go over my goal as well) I have taken a lot of inspiration for a handful of patterns from one of my favorite places, the beach!  The patterns have a dash of nautical, a nod to some classic motifs and a whole lot of color and fun! Oh and did I mention Flamingos?! I will be unveiling more patterns as I start to climb to my goal but here is a sneak peak!
