kimberly Lewis 2014

Kimberly Lewis  (- check out her website - http://www.kimberlylewishome.com/  ) has (still) been very very busy; I promised her a blog spot before getting sidetracked and can't even begin to figure out a good place to begin, so from Kimberly's site, I think a snap of her client list is a good place to begin for what's new:
Kimberly

And then
from March 5 - 2014:

I can finally let the cat out of the bag! I have been counting down the days/minutes until I could announce! The newest issue of Rue Magazine went live yesterday and Kimberly Lewis Home is gracing its Color Issue!
This feature means so much to me! It felt like yesterday (it was actually Feb 2011) that I attended the Rue Issue 3 party here in NYC. At the time I hadn’t even officially launched my business yet. All I had was a business card with a website that led to a few teaser photos and a twitter account that maybe 20 people followed me on, But I didn’t care! I was planning on launching my business that May and wanted to meet other design industry professionals who were doing their own thing. I remember going to the event alone that night being so nervous, I wasn’t sure if I should introduce myself as a package designer in the beauty industry which was what I was doing at the time or say I was a wallpaper designer. I can’t remember what I decided on but in the end I ended up meeting and chatting with so many people like Roxy of Society Social who is now a friend and was launching her business that summer as well! Small world! I left the event so pumped up with energy and excited about my business and what was on the horizon!
It was a dream to work with the Rue Crew and finally be part of the magazine! I felt like it was a benchmark for my business from how far I’ve come thinking back on that party. Crystal, Kat, and Emily pulled everything together super quick and I am seriously amazed! I put together a little video of some behind the scenes action of the shoot that took place in my Brooklyn apartment / office. I am a super fan of Emily’s work and when Crystal emailed me that she would be coming to my place I was honestly a bit nervous. I felt like I had some big shoes to fill but everything came together and I am so pleased with the entire article.  Emily has an absolutely amazing eye and the photographs turned out stunning! I’m so grateful to have been able to work with her!

Kimberly has had a remarkably adventurous career to date and it shows on her face and in the love she puts into her work and website. I look forward to getting some more first hand takes on how she is enjoying the business end of her design career! Best to you Kimberly!

Kimberly Lewis Home - 2nd collection!

Kimberly Lewis Home is a Brooklyn based design studio that specializes inplayful patterned home furnishings. Feel free to check out our website with our current products at KimberlyLewisHome.com you can find us onFacebookTwitter, and Pinterest as well!
I originally launched Kimberly Lewis Home in May of 2011 at The International Contemporary Furniture Fair. I debuted a collection of boutique wallpaper, 4 patterns in 2 colorways each. We have been slowly growing over the last year with new products such as pillows, trays, and notecards. I have been working on our newest collection and I am dying to share it with the world!
Where will the Funds Will Go?
If I reach my goal of $3,000 the money will be used to bring the new collection from my computer screen into actual products! I have 5 new patterns that I will  make into wallpaper. If I exceed my goal I will also be making fabric as well. I will also be printing the patterns from the first collection on a beautiful linen which will be a new addition. I would also like to add to the pillow collection and introduce the new patterns in pillow form as well.
Since the beginning I have been working with local manufacturers and I plan on continuing that with the second collection. Everything is printed not far from NYC and all of the pillows are sewn right here in the Garment District. Even the pillow fillers are made here in the US. Launching a new collection isn't cheap and this is where you come in!
What do the new patterns look like?
I have 6 new patterns that I can not wait to show you! (I may introduce more if I go over my goal as well) I have taken a lot of inspiration for a handful of patterns from one of my favorite places, the beach!  The patterns have a dash of nautical, a nod to some classic motifs and a whole lot of color and fun! Oh and did I mention Flamingos?! I will be unveiling more patterns as I start to climb to my goal but here is a sneak peak!

kimberly lewis - blog launch -

I am very proud to post Kimberly's next step in following her design passion! Please follow her new blog: http://kimberlylewis.net/blog/

Where she introduces herself and her past and recent activities: She notes,
"Kimberly Lewis jumped into the world of home furnishing and textile design with a series of internships for companies including Twenty2, Sunham Home Fashions, and Kim Seybert. She has worked with the Macy’s Merchandising Group, designing print and patterns for their private tableware and Frango candy lines for their Fall ‘08 season and Valentine’s Day ‘09. Since 2008 she has been working for Estée Lauder Companies at Clinique, creating packaging, patterned makeup bags, and custom compacts that are sold at Clinique counters worldwide.

In addition to the companies listed, Kimberly has sold her original line of handmade felt applique pillows at craft fairs around NYC, including Brooklyn Renagade and the Brooklyn Flea. Always thinking of what is next, Kimberly’s next endeavor is already in the works, this time in the form of her own print and patterns as wall coverings with a twist.

Kimberly graduated from Pratt Institute in 2008 with a B.I.D. in Industrial Design, and has studied textile design at The Danish Design School in Copenhagen. She currently lives in Brooklyn, N.Y."

kimberly lewis - VistaPrint competition! Help her out!

Kimberly Lewis is gearing up to launch her own wallpaper design business - this competitino will help her - please see below to help her out!!

Hi Everyone,
I am not usually one to send out mass emails but I would really appreciate your support! As you may or may not know I have been designing a wallpaper line and plan on debuting it next May during NY design week. I have been working on the designing and manufacturing end of things but as far as advertising and marketing my budget is very limited!

Vistaprint / Vistaprint Small Biz is running a contest called 'Make An Impression' and is offering 4 small businesses the opportunity to receive $10,000 in marketing and promotion materials along with a few other great perks! This would be fantastic opportunity for me because at the moment I do not have much funding for advertising, marketing and will need brochures, postcards, business cards etc for my booth in May. I would really appreciate it if you would vote for me in the contest. Every vote counts! The contest is running August 24th (today!) until September Sept 4th. There is a limit of one vote per person/email address per day. Feel free to pass on the below url or this email to family and friends! You can vote for me at:

http://www.1800vistaprint.com/contest/Kimberly-Lewis

If you want to check out what I have been up to you can visit my website at KimberlyLewis.net I have a small portfolio of my recent professional work and a preview of some of the wallpaper patterns I have been working on.

Thanks so much for your time and support!!

Best,
Kimberly

kimberly lewis

ID alum is very proud to present Kimberly Lewis - (2008 grad) a very dedicated and very professional young designer who is working happily in NYC, and I'll just copy her note directly, there is no improving upon it;

"After I graduated from Pratt in '08 I freelanced at Macy's for one summer working on print and patterns for their private line tableware. It surprises a lot of people but I got my fulltime job through the Pratt show! My current supervisor and boss at Clinique (both also pratt alum) went to the professionals night and noticed my pattern work and industrial design background. I got offered a fulltime job at Clinique in Sept 08 working on their Gift with Purchase program which is basically all of the stuff that they give away when you purchase $XX amount of product at our counter. I work on hard goods such as compacts, mirrors and accessories but my real passion is designing the prints for the makeup bags.

I love working with print and pattern so much that I am actually in the process of starting my own line of wallpaper (with a twist!) and I will keep you updated but I am not ready to reveal quite yet! It is all on the side of my fulltime job so things are slow but I have started to work with a manufacturer and it is really exciting!

I have a website with some photos of a few select pieces from my portfolio." It is at www.KimberlyLewis.net

She has a nice interview on Track Ahead

I am very happy and proud to have her with us, check out her site linked here and copied in the alum site.
